Angel A. Sandoval, an 18-year-old, was apprehended by authorities in Hampstead, North Carolina, today for his alleged involvement in the 2024 murder of Mohamed Keita in Nashville. The incident, which occurred on November 30, 2024 during an attempted robbery in William Pitts Park, resulted in the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Keita, according to City of Nashville officials.
Sandoval, who was a minor at the time of the crime, will now face a criminal homicide charge in Juvenile Court, as he transitions into the adult legal system, Nashville's law enforcement has filed the necessary paperwork for Sandoval's transfer from Juvenile to Criminal Court, and details surrounding the case are unfolding as investigations continue; Jazlynn Summers, another suspect, was arrested earlier on March 6 in connection with the same crime.
Summers, 18, also faces charges as a juvenile for her role in the setup and execution of the robbery that led to Keita’s death. In a statement obtained by City of Nashville government sources, she "admitted to setting up and participating in the robbery" during her interview with Homicide Unit detectives. Both suspects were 17 at the time of the murder, and, therefore, their initial charges were processed through Juvenile Court.
This latest arrest marks a significant development in the nearly half-year long investigation into Keita's death, as law enforcement continue to piece together what transpired that fateful evening and officials are urging anyone with further information to come forward.
