A 19-year-old man's self-surrender at the Kapolei Police Station on Saturday night has added another arrest to the tragic events following a Makaha shooting incident earlier this week that left one person dead and several injured. According to KITV, the young man is facing charges of Murder in the Second Degree, Attempted Murder in the First Degree, and three counts of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, with charges still pending. This latest development follows the arrest of two men and a teenager connected to the case earlier in Waianae on the same day.
The series of violent confrontations began last Wednesday night. A group had been gathered in the yard of a home located on Lahaina St. near Jade St. when, shortly after 9 p.m., they spotted suspects armed and approaching on foot. According to Hawaii News Now, an altercation ensued where one suspect allegedly opened fire, causing the group to seek refuge in the house. Amidst the scramble, police reports mention that a victim fired a warning shot into the air to facilitate entry into the locked home as the assailants continued shooting, hitting four individuals and resulting in one fatality.
A 19-year-old man who turned himself in isn’t the only suspect in the case. Earlier, Honolulu Police arrested a 17-year-old, a 20-year-old, and a 21-year-old in Waianae on Saturday, as reported by Hawaii News Now. Police say charges against the suspects are still pending as the investigation continues.
