A young woman's life was tragically cut short following a late-night shooting in Costa Mesa. The incident, which took place around 11:10 p.m. on Lukup Lane, left the 20-year-old victim, identified as Montserrat "Monse" Colorado, mortally wounded on the sidewalk, KTLA reports.
Responding to a call of shots fired, Costa Mesa police officers found Colorado with several gunshot wounds, a mishap that unfolded near a residential area between Harbor Boulevard and the Costa Mesa Country Club. The immediate response from officers, followed by the intervention of Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue, was not enough to save her life; she died after being transported to a hospital, CBS News Los Angeles confirms.
Authorities shared that Colorado, a Huntington Beach resident, seemed to have been known to the suspect, who remains at large.
