Five people were taken to the hospital after a house fire in southeast Henderson over the weekend. The Henderson Fire Department said the fire started around 6 p.m. last Saturday in the 600 block of Winchester Drive. When first responders arrived, the house was actively burning. Three residents were taken to a nearby hospital, and one had critical injurie, as reported by 8 News Now.
Two Henderson police officers were also injured in the incident and needed medical attention. City spokesperson Madeleine Skains said the officers were in stable condition after being exposed to smoke, based on a statement shared with Review Journal. Emergency crews and police responded quickly to the scene.
A fire that caused injuries and disrupted a neighborhood was declared under control by 8 p.m., according to Skains. Emergency crews stayed at the scene to secure the area and begin an investigation. The cause of the fire is still being investigated, and the names of the injured have not been released.
