
Seven people, including six children, were injured yesterday afternoon when an SUV crashed into a tree in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The incident was reported by the Seminole County Fire Department and occurred around 3:40 p.m. on Gateway Drive. According to WFTV, the white Ford SUV, containing one adult and children ranging from ages 3 to 13, lost control along a curved section of the road near Gateway Drive and Keller Road before striking a tree off the side of the road.
Emergency responders at the scene extricated the injured occupants and transported them to the hospital. With one of the children being listed as seriously injured, as officials reported. At least three of the children suffered serious injuries, and the adult driver was transported as a trauma alert. A child’s car seat, indicating the presence of very young passengers, was seen inside the mangled remains of the SUV. Images from the scene, captured by ClickOrlando, showed the vehicle heavily damaged against a tree.
The circumstances leading to the SUV veering off the road remain under investigation. In a developing story issued by local authorities, Altamonte Springs police also responded to the accident and are aiding in determining the cause of the crash.
