A 77-year-old woman identified as Julianne McClure has died following a head-on collision on Rochester Road in Rochester Hills. The incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. last Sunday near Hickory Lawn Street, where McClure, driving a 2024 Chevrolet Trax, sustained injuries leading to her death yesterday. Her 15-year-old granddaughter, a passenger, suffered a broken ankle but was released from the hospital.
Local law enforcement revealed that the other vehicle, a 2006 Toyota Highlander driven by a 31-year-old man from Lincoln Park, crossed the center line and was responsible for the collision, as reported by FOX 2 Detroit, the two children in the back seat of the Toyota, ages 7 and 9, were also injured and have been receiving medical attention, the condition of the children at this time remains unknown, the driver of the Highlander did not sustain injuries in the crash.
The Rochester Hills Fire Department had to use extrication equipment to free McClure from the wreckage, after which she was transported to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries; this was corroborated by The Oakland Press. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office, while dismissing alcohol or drugs as factors, continues to investigate what caused the Lincoln Park man to veer into oncoming traffic, the results of which are pending.
