In a recent cascade of events, Alhambra Police Department officers were dispatched to Ramona Ave., between 6th and 8th Street, after receiving reports of copper wire theft. The culprits were sighted fleeing the scene, sparking an immediate police search in the neighborhood. According to an update from the Alhambra Police Department's Facebook page, the rapid police response resulted in the apprehension of one individual.

The suspect, identified as Roberto Garcia of Los Angeles, was found near Garfield Ave. and Glendon Way. Not far from his capture site, police discovered multiple spools of copper wiring, presumably related to the theft. Garcia was subsequently arrested and taken to APD Jail.

Incidents involving theft of copper wire have seen an uptick in urban areas, often due to the material's substantial resale value. These crimes impact community infrastructure, cause costly damages, and create dangerous situations by exposing live wires. Local law enforcement agencies strive to patrol and monitor known hotspots for such activities.

The Alhambra Police Department has not yet released information regarding the second suspect who remains at large. The department calls for community assistance, urging anyone with information to come forward.
