Traffic was snarled on the North Freeway Service Road following a significant three-vehicle accident caused by an alleged drunk driver. Deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office arrived at the scene near the 20500 block last Sunday, where they encountered the suspect, Alexisis Lopez, who appeared visibly intoxicated.
After conducting a series of field sobriety tests which confirmed their suspicions, officials took the necessary steps to ensure the safety of other motorists and the efficacy of the law; Lopez failed to navigate the sobriety challenges. According to Constable Mark Herman's Facebook page, "Alexisis Lopez was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Driving While Intoxicated." His bond was set at a mere $100.00 out of County Court 6, raising questions about the consequences and deterrents of such serious offenses.
Further engaging the community in law enforcement efforts, Constable Herman's office invites residents to stay connected through constant updates by following their official social media or downloading the "C4 NOW" mobile app, which provides live feeds on crime, arrests, safety tips, traffic accidents, and road conditions in the area.
