Making the call for immediate action, Arlington Animal Services Manager Ashley Woolnough emphasized the critical state of overflow they're experiencing. "Please visit our shelter today or contact us to learn more about how you can help. Every adoption, rescue, or foster placement directly contributes to saving a life," Woolnough said in a statement that reflects not just a plea, but a grim forecast without community intervention, as per the City of Arlington.
The steep discount does not mean a decrease in the quality of care each pet receives before they are placed in their "forever homes." Included in the adoption fee, whether it's $5 or the full fare, are pet vaccinations, spaying or neutering, a microchip, a city license for Arlington residents, and heartworm or FIV/FELV testing, as highlighted by the shelter's offerings.
