Early morning chaos broke out in South Baltimore following an armed carjacking that concluded with a crash involving a stolen vehicle and a tractor-trailer. At about 5:14 a.m., Baltimore police were dispatched after receiving a call about an armed carjacking on the 200 block of Washburn Avenue, as reported by FOX Baltimore. A 49-year-old man reported being approached by an armed suspect who demanded his vehicle, a Honda, at gunpoint before escaping with it.
The Baltimore police, as later events unfolded, identified a black male suspect involved in the carjacking. Tracing the pointed trajectory of his escape, officers later found the stolen car had met its demise in a collision with a heavy tractor-trailer at the intersection of South Hanover and West Cromwell Street around 10:58 a.m., according to the same source. Injured in the wreckage, the suspect was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention by the authorities, who also discovered a firearm within the Honda's crumbled interior.
The narrative of the morning's events was further corroborated by WBALTV, which added that the weapon seized from the scene was, in fact, a rifle. The victim in this harrowing experience had initially described the suspect as wielding a rifle when he was forced out of his car.
Once the hospital releases the suspect, meanwhile recovering from his injuries, he will face the music at the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he will receive formal charges.
