Early Friday morning in South Seattle, a 33-year-old man was apprehended by Seattle police after an assault report led to a gunfire exchange and a subsequent pursuit near Pritchard Island Beach. According to the Seattle Police Department Blotter, officers arrived at the 8400 block of 55th Avenue South around 6:25 a.m. and encountered the armed suspect, who upon facing arrest, fired a shot at them and fled on foot towards the waterfront.
The neighborhood proved crucial in tracking the fugitive, with 911 calls from concerned residents pointing to a man running through backyards who matched the suspect's description. With the collaborative effort of Seattle Police Department K9 units, alongside Tukwila police and King County Sheriff’s deputies, the search narrowed down to the area where the man sought a watery refuge.
Concluding the chase, after running to the dock area near the Atlantic City Boat Ramp, the suspect was spotted jumping into the lake. It wasn't long before just before 8:30 a.m., officers managed to pull the soaked individual from the water and arrested him. In the care of Seattle Fire Department medics, the man received treatment before being escorted to the hospital for evaluation.
