
Today, an armored Brinks truck became the target of a robbery in Queens, as it sat parked in front of a Bank of America. According to PIX11 News, two armed individuals confronted Brinks employees by the branch located at Linden Boulevard and 205th Street, around 8:50 a.m., forcibly taking an undisclosed amount of cash and disarming an armed guard.
The New York City Police Department has opened an investigation into the incident. Footage captured by Chopper 2 showed officers at the scene wearing protective gear and positioned behind a cordoned-off Brinks vehicle. An abandoned scooter was also visible on the sidewalk in the broadcast. No injuries were reported during the robbery, CBS News New York reported.
Authorities are on the lookout for the suspects, who reportedly made their getaway in a black Chevy, taking off west on Linden Boulevard moments after the heist. Up till now, no suspects have been apprehended in connection with the robbery, as the criminals remain at large, their identities and the full scope of the theft yet to be disclosed.
As additional information becomes available, the reported loss of a firearm during the incident has drawn attention. Law enforcement is continuing to pursue leads and conduct security measures at financial institutions and during armored transport operations.
