A tragic hit-and-run in Osceola County has led to an arrest, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol. Last Wednesday, a Kissimmee woman, whose name has yet to be released, was fatally struck by a vehicle while jogging in the early morning hours on Florida Parkway. According to WFTV, the incident occurred as the victim was crossing the intersection of Sprucewood Lane when a pickup truck collided with her and failed to stop.
The woman was subsequently transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead, as WESH detailed. In a swift response, the Florida Highway Patrol announced on Thursday that they had located a Ford F-250, which is believed to be the vehicle involved in the crash. Jairo Pena Espana, 21, has been arrested in connection with the case and is facing charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving death and driving without a valid license resulting in death.
It is not clear at this time whether the suspect has legal representation or if a court date has been set.
