In the early hours of Sunday, Austin witnessed a tragedy on South Mopac EXPY SB, where an incident led to the death of Johan Dominguez, a white male born on January 13, 2021. According to a report from the Austin Police Department, the SUV carrying six occupants met with a crash, resulting in emergency services declaring one fatality at the scene and sending the rest to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver, Johnathan J. Dominguez, 26, has been arrested on charges that include Intoxication Manslaughter and Driving While Intoxicated Child Passenger, responsivities burdening the young man as the wheels spun out beneath him, the sirens blared through the post-midnight stillness of the highway, now an impromptu stage for the unfolding of a human drama under the unforgiving floodlights of police cars and ambulances. He's now lodged in the Travis County Jail, awaiting what justice has to serve. This crash marks the city's 40th fatal crash this year, which has already seen 44 unfortunate passings, a grim uptick from the previous year's statistics at the same time, where 34 fatal crashes led to 35 deaths.
