Starting on Thursday, the park's dog area will be temporarily closed for renovation, as reported by the City of Avondale's official news release. Planned improvements include the installation of new shade structures, a redesigned entrance, and amenities such as upgraded benches, irrigation systems, and drinking fountains catered to both pets and people.
With a cost of $1.33 million dedicated to the dog park renovation, the city is also introducing a temporary dog area to ensure residents still have a space for their pets during construction. In addition to the dog park upgrades, Friendship Park will also be getting eight new pickleball courts, complete with LED lighting and spectator seating, reflecting an investment of $1.44 million.
