
Baltimore's Mayor Brandon M. Scott recently unveiled a series of administrative appointments aimed at optimizing city operations and enhancing public services. According to a statement from the Baltimore City Mayor's Office, among the key appointees, Khalil Zaied will assume the role of Deputy Mayor of Operations, stepping down from his previous position as Director of the Department of Public Works (DPW).
"I am grateful that Director Zaied is bringing his 30 years of municipal leadership and experience to his new role as Deputy Mayor of Operations, and am excited to welcome him back to City Hall," Mayor Scott said, expressing confidence in the new team, which includes Matthew Garbark as the proposed Director of DPW, who is set to move up from his interim Deputy Director role and Alan Robinson, who will join the DPW as Deputy Director, coming from his earlier posting as Assistant City Administrator for Operations in the Mayor's Office.
In addition to these movements, Mayor Scott plans to nominate Kendall Abu-Hakim to lead the Division of Solid Waste within DPW where Abu-Hakim's experience spans nearly 14 years in various municipal responsibilities including as Assistant Deputy Director at the Department of General Services (DGS), while Steve Sharkey, stepping up from his role as the interim head, is expected to be the permanent Bureau Head for the Division of Water and Wastewater at DPW.
