A shooting incident during a firearm training course has left a 23-year-old woman with a gunshot wound, according to Baltimore Police. The event took place on the 4500 block of Edmondson Avenue yesterday, where Southwest District officers, upon receiving a report of the shooting at around 6:12 p.m., found the victim. Transported to an area hospital, she was subsequently listed in stable condition.
The training session was meant to be an educational experience in firearm safety; however, a misfire occurred while the instructor was demonstrating the safe handling of a weapon, the discharged bullet striking the woman in the leg, as reported by the Baltimore Police Department. The instructor was taken into custody following the accident, with detectives from the Southwest District Shooting unit taking over the investigation, urging anyone with information to come forward.
