Blaine residents should brace for a summer filled with construction, as several road and infrastructure projects kick into full gear. The City of Blaine has provided a construction update, detailing current and upcoming works impacting local streets and facilities.

The first project on the docket is the upgrade to Lift Station 13 and its force main along Naples Street. According to the release, the massive task will unfold in three phases over the next two years, with Phase 1 and Phase 2 slated for completion in 2025 and Phase 3 stretching into 2026. For the week of June 23, locals can expect the installation of the first lift of bituminous pavement. Meanwhile, Phase 2 won't begin until June 30, 2025, and the third phase will kick off on July 28, 2025.

Meanwhile, the 2024 Southwest Area Street Reconstruction continues with a vital stretch of 89th Avenue shut down to traffic from June 16, anticipated to reopen by August 25. This closure, a part of Phase 3 of the project, will correspond with gate valve, hydrant replacements, and storm sewer installation. Completed stages of this project include Phase 1 and Phase 2A, with the city noting that minor punch list items remain.

Lastly, the 2025 Southwest Area Street Reconstruction will impact several roads, with Phase 1 beginning the week of June 23. The construction activities will introduce new storm sewer systems and private utility installations, and Phase 2 is expected to start on July 21, 2025, "subject to change."
