After months of searching, the body of Guy Ro DeMasellis, 51, was discovered in an abandoned camper, as announced by the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office (LCSO). The discovery puts an end to the missing person's investigation that began after DeMasellis was last contacted in early February. His last known sighting was at Lazy Acres RV Park in Lenoir City, according to the LCSO.
The LCSO has ruled out foul play in the death of DeMasellis, stating a thorough investigation yielded no evidence of criminal activity. "We extend our heartfelt condolences to Mr. DeMasellis’ loved ones during this difficult time," the LCSO wrote in a statement. "We would also like to sincerely thank our community for the information and tips provided throughout this investigation. Your assistance was invaluable in helping our detectives bring closure to this case," WVLT reported.
In March, the LCSO made public appeals for assistance from the community to locate DeMasellis, last seen at JB's Gas Station in Lenoir City on March 10. Initial reports did not provide conclusive leads, according to a statement obtained by WBIR. However, the case continued, highlighted by efforts from local law enforcement and the cooperation of the community, culminating in the recent grim discovery.
Authorities remind the public that hundreds of people are reported missing in Tennessee each year. In a broader context provided by WATE, nearly 400 individuals go missing annually in the state, translating to five people per every 100,000. The LCSO encourages the public to remain vigilant and engage with ongoing missing persons investigations by viewing lists of those unaccounted for in East Tennessee.
