The Knox County Sheriff's Office says deputies used aerial and drone resources to locate the suspect, and once he was found, the lockdowns at area schools were lifted.

Deputies were searching for the burglary suspect in the Cedar Bluff area of Knox County when the sheriff's office placed area schools on a medium lockdown as a precaution, according to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, which reported that its AirWatch and Drone Team assisted in the search. The sheriff's office reported that its AirWatch and drone assets helped deputies find the suspect, and once he was located and taken into custody, the school lockdowns came to an end, as reported by WVLT.
The Cedar Bluff area of West Knoxville is home to adjacent public school campuses, including Cedar Bluff Elementary School, which serves Pre-K through 5th grade, and Cedar Bluff Middle School, serving grades 6 through 8, according to Homes.com. Wednesday's lockdown adds to a difficult stretch for Knox County Schools. Just days earlier, on September 4, 21 students at Carter Middle School were hospitalized for heat exhaustion after a written threat forced an outdoor field evacuation during a lockdown-style sweep under a regional heat advisory, as Hoodline previously reported.
The district has also faced school security incidents this year. Parents questioned security after a former student entered multiple buildings and classrooms. Knox County Schools has used medium lockdowns during other active police operations in the past, including an August 2025 incident at Central High School involving a student with a stolen handgun, according to WBIR.
The Cedar Bluff incident followed the pattern of an off-campus manhunt prompting precautionary restrictions at nearby schools, ending once the suspect was safely in custody.
