Boston residents can anticipate a transition from sweltering heat to potential storms as the week progresses. NBC Boston reports a steaming forecast with today's high temperatures reaching the mid 80s, and some areas in MetroWest could experience near 90 degree heat. The uptick in temperature doesn't stop there. Thursday's forecast calls for more intense heat with expected highs inching closer to the 90s in Boston and possibly reaching the mid 90s in some suburbs.
However, residents should also keep an eye out for the skies, especially on Thursday evening. As the warmth escalates, "watch out for a couple of pop-up showers and storms late Thursday afternoon and evening as a cold front nudges into the region," NBC Boston warns. In line with the National Weather Service, there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. on Thursday, with a 20% chance of precipitation.
For those making weekend plans, expect some considerable changes from the sizzling week. The weather is set to shift as Friday rolls around, with a 60% chance of showers likely, especially following 5 p.m., when thunderstorms could also be part of the mix. The same weather pattern is to carry into Saturday with a 70% likelihood of continued showers, according to the National Weather Service.
The latter half of the weekend will see an easing of the weather turbulence. Sunday forecasts show a reduced chance of showers before noon and partly sunny conditions with a high near 76 degrees. Yet, a lingering potential for precipitation remains throughout the early week with cloudy skies and chances of showers both on Monday night and Tuesday hovering around 30-40%, respectively.
