The Bronx community is responding to the death of Tamara Rowe, a 40-year-old mother of two, who was fatally stabbed in her apartment. According to CBS New York, police sources report that Rowe knew the suspect, and the incident is being investigated as a case of domestic violence. NYPD officers were seen entering and exiting the building at 667 E. 232nd St. throughout the day, gathering evidence and reviewing surveillance footage showing a man leaving the scene via the building’s stairs.
Rowe was found with stab wounds to her chest and right arm last Saturday evening. Despite the efforts of first responders, who transported her to Montefiore Hospital, Rowe succumbed to her injuries. A neighbor, Tasha Shaw, expressed her concern to CBS New York, stating, "That's really scary to know that he or she is on the loose." Shaw, along with other residents, described the victim as a loving and hardworking mom.
Further details are scarce as the investigation is ongoing. ABC7 New York has reported the attack occurred just after 8:30 p.m., impacting the Wakefield section of the Bronx. Authorities are working to piece together the events leading up to the stabbing. The identity of the suspect remains unknown, and the motive for the attack has not been disclosed.
An anonymous neighbor told CBS New York, "I was just shocked because she is a cool lady. Like, she doesn't seem to be someone that would be in any problems." NYPD is urging anyone with information to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
