Residents of a quiet Brooklyn Park neighborhood were jarred by the sound of gunfire on the evening of June 6th. According to the Brooklyn Park Police Department, multiple reports of gunshots were called in around 5:18 p.m. near the 7600 block of Regent Avenue North. Upon their arrival, officers found evidence of gunfire and began their investigation, which led them to a nearby residence believed to house the shooting suspect.
The situation escalated to a brief standoff as law enforcement surrounded the home. Eventually, the suspect emerged and surrendered to the police, "taken into custody without incident," as detailed by the Brooklyn Park Police Department. Inside the residence, officers uncovered a handgun they suspect was used in the incident. Despite the earlier tension, no injuries have been reported in connection with the shooting.
As of now, the Brooklyn Park Police Department has stated there are no other persons of interest, and the case hinges on a solitary suspect. The ongoing investigation continues to unravel the events of that day.
