According to an update posted by the city on Burnsville's official website, a ceremony on May 22 that featured the Police and City leadership teams, elected officials, and project partners, invited community members to "a fun event marking the occasion."
Visibility of the construction progress is now evident. Fences stand around the perimeter, while the site, formerly home to a parking lot and trees along 130th Street, has been cleared. Heavy machinery has been brought in to begin to aggressively lay the groundwork for the new addition. The city’s announcement detailed that utility work and the base of the new structure will commence shortly.
City Hall operations haven't stalled amidst the outdoor activity. To accommodate staff and maintain service operations, temporary workspaces have been established inside the current building.
