Announced via CAL FIRE Amador-El Dorado Unit Facebook page, the prescribed fire is a strategic operation, taking place on the Deer Creek Hills Vegetation Management Project area, located west of Latrobe. This burn, which started on Tuesday and is scheduled to run until Thursday, will span from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m each day, depending on the alignment of weather conditions and air quality restrictions.
Residents might have already noticed smoke in the area, a visible sign of the burn, which aims to eliminate roughly 250 acres of highly flammable grass and oak woodland. This operation will create a necessary fuel break, potentially safeguarding communities from the wrath of future wildfires.
