The Catawba County Sheriff's Office is working to return cellphones found at the scene of a mass shooting that occurred on Sunday last week at a house party on 1125 Walnut Acres Drive. According to QC News, multiple phones were discovered after attendees fled the area during the incident, which left one person dead and several others injured.

Authorities believe the phones were left behind in the rush to escape gunfire, WCNC reports. Deputies recovered the phones while securing the scene and collecting evidence.

Eight individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the shooting. Five of them face 10 additional counts of attempted first-degree murder. During a recent court hearing, family members of the accused were present. Kendra Mack, the mother of one of the defendants, shared her reaction to WCNC, stating her continued support for her son and acknowledging the emotional toll of the situation. The next court date is set for June 26.

WCCB Charlotte reports that gang activity is being investigated as a possible motive. Authorities estimate that at least 80 rounds were fired during the incident. Bonds for the accused individuals have been revoked as the legal process continues.

Anyone who believes they may have left a cellphone at the scene is asked to contact the Catawba County Sheriff's Office at 828-464-3112.
