Winds from the southwest will blow between 8 to 13 mph, with gusts potentially reaching as high as 23 mph.
Tonight's outlook indicates partly cloudy skies with temperatures dropping to around 74 degrees. Southwest winds will continue, albeit slightly weaker, at 7 to 9 mph. However, moving into the Juneteenth holiday, Charlotte can expect a slight change, with a small chance of showers between 1 pm and 2 pm, followed by potential showers and thunderstorms after 2 pm.
The forecast for Juneteenth itself predicts sunny skies with high near 93 degrees, though the heat index could climb to a scorching 102 due to Southwest winds pushing between 9 to 14 mph and gusting upwards of 25 mph. The chance of precipitation stands at 30%, with new rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except possibly higher in thunderstorms, reported by the NWS.
Looking toward the end of the week, Thursday night will bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2 am, followed by a slight chance of showers between 2 am and 3 am. With a low around 70 degrees, calm winds will blow from the west northwest at 5 to 8 mph before dying down after midnight. The chance of precipitation will be 40% and, similar to earlier in the week, new rainfall amounts will generally be less than a tenth of an inch, save for the possibility of higher in thunderstorms.
The weather is set to clear up moving into Friday and the weekend. Charlotte should see sunny skies with a high near 89 degrees on Friday, and by nightfall, the skies are expected to remain mostly clear, with temperatures lowering to about 71 degrees. The sunny trend continues into Saturday, with a high around 92, and into Sunday, where the mercury is expected to rise even further to a high near 94 degrees.
Early next week, the heat intensifies as Monday's forecast anticipates sunny and hot conditions with a high nearing 97 degrees and an overnight low of around 74. The story remains much the same heading into Tuesday, with the sun fiercely blazing down as temperatures hover around a high of 95 degrees. As summer takes hold, these sunny and warm days are a reminder of the season's potency in the region.
