Charlotte County has received the Gold level Healthy Workforce Designation from Cigna for its workplace wellness initiatives. The recognition highlights efforts to support employee well-being across several areas, including emotional, physical, occupational, social, spiritual, intellectual, environmental, and financial health.
According to the Charlotte County press release, the “Wellness at Work” program played a key role in earning the designation. It offers resources designed to support the overall health of employees in line with the county's focus on wellness.
Gordon Burger, Charlotte County’s Budget and Administrative Services Director, stated in the same release, “In Charlotte County government, employee health is our top priority; we are honored to be recognized with the Cigna Healthy Workforce Designation.”
Cigna’s designation is based on an organization's leadership, culture, programs, and policies that promote employee wellness. Their Evernorth Vitality Index research shows that workplace wellness programs can contribute to better health, job performance, and satisfaction. According to Cigna Executive Vice President Kari Knight, “Higher vitality is linked to a more motivated, connected, and productive workforce,” said in the release.
Charlotte County’s recognition reflects its efforts to create a work environment that supports employee health and wellness, as noted in Cigna Healthcare’s announcement.
