Charlotte County has lifted its burn ban, which had been in effect since late February, following recent rainfall that reduced wildfire risk. The county commission approved the decision after Charlotte County Fire Chief Jason Fair reviewed local and regional fire weather data and found conditions had improved.

According to the Charlotte County website, residents may now resume outdoor burning activities, including backyard fire pits and yard waste burning, in accordance with county ordinances and state regulations. Controlled agricultural and silvicultural burns will continue to be monitored by the Florida Forest Service.

Charlotte County Fire & EMS is reminding residents to continue practicing fire safety, particularly during dry or windy conditions. Officials also encourage the community to stay informed about safe burning practices and monitor weather conditions when planning outdoor burns.
