As the city of Chicago dives into the vibrant festivities of Pride Month, the streets are set to become a kaleidoscope of color, music, and celebration. NBC Chicago has given us the rundown: Chicago Pride Fest's two-day extravaganza on June 21 and 22 promises to be a high-energy event, occupying Northalsted on Halsted Street between Addison and Grace streets. With a lineup boasting names like Jesse McCartney, Deborah Cox, and Aluna, festival-goers are in for non-stop entertainment from start to finish.
Pets can join the fun too with the "Best of Chicago" drag show and the Proud Pet Parade. For teens, a dedicated Pride Space offers a safe, welcoming spot for LGBTQ+ youth and allies ages 12–18, as detailed by CBS News Chicago. While the event is free, a $20 suggested donation helps support future celebrations. Marching on to June 29, the Pride Parade, with its "United in Pride" theme, aims to unite the community in a powerful display of diversity and love. "This year's theme is a call to action and 'highlights the power of coming together, embracing our diversity, and championing love, and equality,'" parade organizers have declared.
Moving beyond the city center, suburban Pride festivities are as lively as they come. From Buffalo Grove to Park Ridge, Elgin to Aurora, each suburb is bringing its flavor to the month’s celebrations, with a mix of parades, picnics, and drag shows, making sure there's something for everyone. The CTA is even rolling out the 2025 Pride train on the Red Line, featuring a new design that turns every commute into an act of solidarity and visibility. "The CTA is proud to be part of Chicago's Pride celebration, and we're honored to continue this tradition of standing with the LGBTQ+ community this month and every month," said CTA Acting President Nora Leerhsen in a statement obtained by CBS News Chicago.
Chicago’s ballparks are joining the celebration. On June 12, Wrigley Field hosts the Cubs’ Pride Night against the Pirates, with special Pride jerseys benefiting the Center on Halsted. The White Sox follow on June 18 at Rate Field, offering fans a commemorative Pride Night hat.
