The Chicago Police Department is ramping up efforts to curb impaired driving within the city by conducting a DUI Saturation Patrol in the 10th (Ogden) District this coming weekend. This initiative, which aims to discourage driving under the influence, will be in force from Saturday, June 7, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, June 8, at 2 a.m. According to a statement from the Chicago Police Department, the strategy involves deploying an increased number of officers on the streets to keep a watchful eye for signs of impaired driving.

The focus extends beyond just alcohol-related offenses. During the patrols, police will also be looking for safety belt violations, speeding, and alcohol-related issues. Technologically equipped police vehicles will be out aiming to catch those pushing the limits of speed, and, if necessary, the Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) Mobile Unit will be on hand to speed up charging and perhaps bonding processes for those caught in violation.

The previous DUI Saturation Patrol in the 5th (Calumet) District yielded a total of 41 citations, as revealed by a recent report. Included in these numbers were seven unsafe vehicle violations, six insurance violations, and various other traffic-related citations. The operation, however, did not result in any DUI arrests or vehicles being towed.
