A serious collision involving a vehicle and an electric scooter at Cliff Shadows Parkway and Hickam Avenue yesterday morning has left a nine-year-old male with life-threatening injuries and an eleven-year-old female with minor injuries, as reported by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

The incident took place at approximately 10:22 AM when the two juveniles, riding together on an electric scooter, failed to heed the stop sign and entered into the path of a southbound 2023 Kia Sportage. The collision led to both children being thrown from the scooter onto the roadway. The driver, 77-year-old Teresa Williams, was not harmed and exhibited no signs of impairment, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

First responders quickly took the injured children to UMC Hospital. The nine-year-old boy had serious injuries, while the eleven-year-old girl was hurt less badly. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the Kia driver stayed at the scene and fully cooperated. The Collision Investigation Section is now reviewing all the evidence, including witness reports and dashcam video, to find out what caused the accident.
