A Cincinnati man, wanted for strangulation charges, has been apprehended after a vehicular pursuit by Kentucky State Police (KSP) which ended in Carroll County. The apprehension occurred following an assist request from the Cincinnati Police Department, as stated in reports by Local12. The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Terron Minnifield, reportedly attempted to ram West Chester officers with his vehicle when they tried to execute the arrest.
Upon sighting Minnifield's car, KSP engaged in a chase after he failed to comply with an attempt to pull him over. According to FOX19, Minnifield drove over a tire deflation device, yet continued to flee on flat tires. The authorities resorted to employing a tactical vehicle intervention – the PIT Maneuver – to safely bring the pursuit to a halt, approximately 10 miles after deploying the stop sticks.
Following the chase, Minnifield now faces multiple charges, including fleeing or evading police, reckless driving, possession of marijuana, and speeding 18 miles per hour over the speed limit. During the events leading to the arrest, the KSP was notably supported by Ohio Law Enforcement, indicating a concerted multi-state effort to ensure public safety and uphold the law.
The charges of fleeing or evading authorities and attempts to ram police come in conjunction with his existing charges of strangulation. This complicates Minnifield's legal situation, adding significant allegations to his docket. "Kentucky State Police say Minnifield tried to ram West Chester officers with his vehicle when they went to arrest him," highlighted WLWT. Minnifield's decision to proceed on a damaged vehicle, resisting apprehension, illustrates a startling disregard for the personal safety of himself, law enforcement, and the general public. Minnifield is currently being held as he awaits further proceedings about these events.
