
The City of Fate has been officially recognized as a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community, as announced by Governor Greg Abbott. This certification, obtained after a thorough process, positions Fate among the over 80 cities across Texas that are part of a program designed to stimulate economic development through the local music industry.
"Congratulations to the City of Fate on earning the Music Friendly Texas Certified Community designation," Governor Abbott remarked, pointing to the program's intent to attract and develop music business for job creation and economic growth. In a statement obtained by the official Governor's website, the Governor infused hope, that together with such communities, a more prosperous Texas is in sight.
Local leaders including Senator Bob Hall and Representative Katrina Pierson also extended their congratulations. Senator Hall highlighted the designation as a testament to Fate’s artistic commitment. Meanwhile, Hall also praised the local music scene for reflecting the spirit of innovation that typifies the region. Representative Pierson emphasized music's importance in building community connections.
Matt Wavering, City of Fate Economic Development Director, and Laura Smith, a local business owner, both expressed enthusiasm about the potential of live music to energize the city and spur economic vitality. Smith noted, the Fate Food Haul, a live music venue, as a catalyst for drawing new crowds into the town's offerings. "It's more than entertainment; it's an engine for economic growth and community connection," Smith told the official Governor's website.
The official Music Friendly Texas Community Certification Ceremony is slated for June 16, to coincide with Fate’s City Council meeting. Community leaders will gather at the City Council Chamber on 1900 CD Boren Parkway to celebrate the accomplishment. The Music Friendly Texas initiative is part of Texas Music Office's efforts to cement the state's reputation as a leader in music industry development.
