The Clayton Police Department has had a busy few weeks, responding to 1,565 calls for service between May 12 and June 1, which included a range of incidents from property crime to DUI arrests. According to a report published by the City of Clayton, two juveniles were arrested and charged with hate offenses in connection to graffiti found at Glenridge Elementary School.
During the same period, a string of burglaries, thefts, and cases of fraud kept the Clayton PD occupied. Among these incidents, a contractor reported stolen tools from a work site and an SUV connected to office burglaries was seized, leading to an arrest and confession. The police were also called to action after tornado struck the community, demonstrating the mutual aid system's efficiency during the crisis.
Notably, a range of traffic incidents involved drivers either operating their vehicles under the influence or without proper licensing. One such incident detailed by the city's police incident report involved a woman arrested for an active assault warrant during a traffic stop, while another saw a driver arrested for their second DWI-related offense.
In several cases, cooperation with other agencies led to arrests on outstanding warrants, demonstrating a robust network of interdepartmental collaboration. One individual wanted by the Berkeley Police Department self-surrendered, and during the same interaction, was discovered to be wanted by two other departments. Meanwhile, officers relied on assistance from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department when they arrested a man with an active warrant for Sexual Misconduct 1st Degree.
As reported, investigations continue in many cases, with the community being encouraged to aid in providing any information that could lead to resolutions.
