A Clermont man, Carlos Robinson, age 36, is facing charges involving attempted video voyeurism after a minor staying in his home discovered what appeared to be a hidden camera. As reported by ClickOrlando, Clermont Police further searched Robinson's residence on Columbus Avenue, uncovering "several clandestine recording devices," and subsequently, Robinson was arrested and charged with a second-degree felony.
The investigative effort included a K-9 unit from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement that specializes in detecting electronic storage devices. Their work led to what authorities are calling the discovery of several clandestine recording devices, a neighbor observed the unusual bustle of law enforcement activity describing the sight of an unmarked vehicle, one patrol car, investigators wearing visible detectives attire walking in and out and a CSI van, since "You just don't see a CSI van pull up to a neighborhood not just for no reason," the neighbor, Mariely Sheridan, remarked in an interview as provided by WESH.
Robinson was released on Wednesday on a $10,000 bond. While the Clermont Police Department commended the victim’s bravery in reporting the incident, they also issued a statement highlighting the ongoing nature of the investigation to ensure that no additional crimes were committed.
