Cleveland residents had the chance to chill out with local firefighters and learn about safety this past weekend, thanks to the Cleveland Fire Department's community outreach initiative. The department hosted an Ice Cream Social and Community Safety Fair at Station 42, located at 4665 Pearl in Battalion 4.
The aim was to foster connections between community members and safety personnel. According to a social media post from ClevelandFire, the event featured a variety of attractions, including free hamburgers, hot dogs, and Honey Hut Ice Cream. Parents and children had the opportunity to not only enjoy a sweet treat but also meet their local firefighters, tour the fire trucks, and partake in fire education activities. The Fire Chief was present, alongside the department's smoke trailer and various vendors, making it an informative session for all. The social post highlighted, "HAPPENING NOW! #CLEFIRE Ice Cream Social and Community Safety Fair...Now til 3. Come see us!".

These types of community events are imperative, as they serve to break down barriers between first responders and the public they serve. Engaging activities for children, like exploring fire trucks and learning about the importance of fire safety directly from firefighters, help to form positive associations and impart crucial safety knowledge in an accessible manner.
