Cleveland State University has recently showcased one of its most dynamic graduates, Lila Ostrander, a student who exemplified the school's mission by engaging fully in both academic excellence and community involvement. During her tenure at the university, Ostrander maintained multiple jobs; however, her most significant experience was through her work with the Campus Activities Board (CAB), as she detailed to Cleveland State University's news. At CAB, she quickly progressed from an unpaid assistant to the marketing chair, which allowed her to directly apply classroom knowledge to hands-on marketing strategies, enhancing her understanding of digital marketing platforms.
In a statement obtained by Cleveland State University's news, Ostrander described her role in detail, saying, "I managed our social media presence, maintained the website, sent out mass email newsletters, and coordinated marketing meetings with the team, among other tasks." Her ability to seamlessly integrate academic learning with real-world application is just one of the many ways she embodied the university's values of engaged learning and creative collaboration. Ostrander has also demonstrated an exceptional ability to connect with others, forming meaningful relationships with faculty and staff that, by her admission, have transformed her educational journey and personal growth.
Moreover, Ostrander's involvement in various extracurricular activities, including the Women's Club Soccer and mentorship through the Glasscock Scholars Program, only amplifies her achievements both on and off the field. It's through these connections, she told Cleveland State University's news, that she's been inspired for her future, crediting her mentors and peers for their invaluable advice and support.
When discussing her leadership roles, Ostrander emphasized, as reported by Cleveland State University's news, "These experiences taught me leadership, communication, teamwork, what it means to give back, and more." Through her participation as president of the Women's Club Soccer and as a valued member of the Campus Activities Board, she not only developed valuable teamwork and leadership skills but also fulfilled the mission of Cleveland State by building a more inclusive and engaging campus community. She must go beyond classroom involvement, actively seeking to contribute to a vibrant campus culture and making a positive difference in her community.
