
Cleveland State University has announced a significant development in its academic leadership team with the appointment of Scott Vine as the new director of its Michael Schwartz Library, as indicated in a recent announcement. Vine, an experienced figure in the realm of academic librarianship, is commended for his empathetic leadership and his well-established record of supporting college students, both critical facets according to Cleveland State University's statement.
Bringing a comprehensive blend of scholarship and professional acumen, Scott Vine has developed his career through various prestigious academic institutions including Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins, and Franklin & Marshall where he held the directorship of its college library, his role at CSU will start on July 7, a position that he steps into with multiple master's degrees in philosophy and library/information science; furthermore, he's an alumnus of the ACRL/Harvard Leadership Institute training a distinguished program for academic library professionals, emphasizing the holistic skillset Vine is expected to bring to the Michael Schwartz Library at CSU.
Notably, in the course of his career, Vine has engaged with the academic library community on several fronts, serving on the editorial board of directors for the journal portal: Libraries and the Academy and he's also contributed his expertise to the Partnership for Academic Library Collaboration and Innovation (PALCI) as part of its board of directors, a consortium encompassing over 70 academic and research libraries across five states, showcasing his commitment to collaborative innovation in the field of librarianship.
