The County Board of Supervisors has given its approval to employment agreements for two key figures: County Administrator Sharon Gilman and Clerk of the Board Lara Loewenheim. The decisions were made during a special meeting on Tuesday, ensuring that both Gilman and Loewenheim will officially continue their service to the community.

This announcement follows an executive session that fell under the purview of A.R.S. § 38-431.03(A)(1), (3), and (4), guidelines that allow for discussions involving personnel matters, contract negotiations, and legal counsel. Gilman, who had been the Interim County Administrator since January this year, after serving as Deputy for five years prior, has now been confirmed to the permanent position she has essentially been auditioning for.

Board Chair Frank Antenori praised Gilman's contributions, saying, "Sharon has provided steady, capable leadership throughout her time with the County, and especially in recent months as Interim Administrator," according to a statement obtained by Cochise County's official website. He later mentioned, "We're confident in her ability to continue in her vital role with Cochise County, serving with professionalism and integrity."

Gilman, who holds a master’s degree in public administration from Texas State University and calls Cochise County her home since 2008, has expressed her gratitude for the Board's decision. "I’m honored to serve as County Administrator and to support the Board and our departments in delivering high-quality services to the people of Cochise County. I appreciate the Board’s trust and look forward to building on the important work we’ve started," she disclosed in a statement. In tandem, Loewenheim's ongoing role as Clerk of the Board was also confirmed through the approval of her employment contract. Both contracts took effect immediately, setting a clear course for county administration.
