In a move signaling the fierce crackdown on violent criminals, 25-year-old Colorado Springs man Jahlique Rahmir Dorsey has been handed down a 141-month federal prison sentence for a series of armed robberies targeting Brinks employees. The announcement came from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Dorsey, involved in orchestrated armed attacks on workers servicing ATMs, confronted a Brinks employee on September 26, 2023 at a Wells Fargo bank in Colorado Springs pointing a firearm and making away with a bag only filled with rubber bands no cash having been heisted this time, the report provided, this encounter was made more unsettling by the fact that Dorsey's co-defendant also brandished a weapon during the mugging, as noted in the plea agreement, thereby escalating the tension for the victim.
The following week, on October 2, Dorsey repeated his criminal act, where another Brinks employee was servicing an ATM at a Wells Fargo in Aurora, Colorado, during this assault, the victim was not only met with firearms, but also a physical confrontation that left the worker punched in the mouth and stripped of his service weapon, along with the cash-filled Brinks bag, in events captured by surveillance and later contained in the plea agreement.
"Mr. Dorsey’s brazen, violent conduct put the victims of his robberies and other members of our community in real danger," declared United States Attorney Peter McNeilly, as per U.S. Department of Justice, underscoring the importance of curbing such violent crime in Colorado, "Reducing violent crime throughout Colorado is one of the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s top priorities," McNeilly further noted, the FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force, engaged in an enduring battle against the surge of such violence, has been lauded for their unified law enforcement efforts spanning multiple jurisdictions, a testament to their dedicated resolve was the swift capture of Dorsey and his partner in crime.
