The City of Colorado Springs has officially named AVA Presents as the new steward of the storied City Auditorium, setting the stage for a revitalization effort that promises to breathe fresh life into the downtown area. As reported by the City of Colorado Springs, the venue that has stood for over a century as a community touchstone is poised for transformation under the direction of a company noted for its expertise in rejuvenating historical venues and orchestrating live events.
An internal City committee put AVA Presents through a review process and the outcome is a partnership that will have AVA Presents helm operations and invest in the site, bringing it up to snuff after years of required maintenance languished, Ryan Trujillo, Deputy Chief of Staff for the City of Colorado Springs noted, "This is an important step forward in bringing new life to one of our most beloved civic buildings," as per City of Colorado Springs.
In step with renewing the City Auditorium, AVA Presents has outlined plans to introduce a spectrum of activities, including concerts, cultural happenings, and various community-centric events. Jesse Morreale, a native of Colorado Springs and principal at AVA Presents, voiced his company's dedication to recreating the City Auditorium, not merely as an entertainment venue but as a nexus for creativity and communal exchange, proclaiming pride in restoring the building's significance within the locality.
The lease agreement with AVA Presents spans an initial five-year term with options to extend, tallying up to 25 years of potential collaboration, the deal involves no fiscal onus on the City to rectify accumulated maintenance or to finance renovations, despite the property remaining under City ownership, AVA Presents will manage the necessary overhaul and manage the Auditorium post-restoration, incorporating community and cultural programs back into the hall’s schedule, the financial particulars of the lease, due to their nature, require a nod from the City Council before anything is set in stone.
