A domestic violent incident in Conroe escalated into a standoff yesterday, resulting in a suspect being shot by police. As per reports from Click2Houston, the Conroe Police responded to a call concerning a domestic disturbance around 2:10 p.m. on N. San Jacinto Street where a suspect, who had reportedly assaulted family members, was armed and barricaded inside a home.
Authorities managed to evacuate the injured parties from the scene before the confrontation came to a head. The police, including a SWAT team, attempted to negotiate with the suspect for a peaceful surrender. Following the standoff, during which SWAT deployed CS gas in an attempt to bring the suspect out without success, the situation inside the home escalated.
As detailed by KHOU, when SWAT team members entered the home the suspect confronted them, leading the officers to shoot the individual once. Immediate medical assistance was rendered to the suspect, who was then transported to a local hospital, now listed in critical but stable condition.
Meanwhile, the Conroe Police Criminal Investigations, and the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office are conducting a thorough investigation of the incident. The family members who were victims of the initial assault have received medical care and are safe according to police reports. The police have not disclosed any names connected to the incident.
