
A 43-year-old construction worker was killed Thursday morning in Brooklyn after a roof partially collapsed at a construction site. The incident occurred at a mixed-use building located at 3223 Quentin Road in the Marine Park neighborhood, as confirmed by ABC7 New York.
According to details released by officials, the collapse happened at around 9:00 a.m., trapping the worker, who was performing repairs to a restaurant and installing refrigeration equipment on the first floor. The man was discovered beneath a heavy slab of concrete, subsequently transported to a hospital in critical condition, and, tragically passed away from his injuries. The identity of the worker has not yet been made public.
The New York Police Department reported to PIX11 News that the call came in around 8:50 a.m., and upon emergency responders' arrival, they found the victim unconscious amidst the wreckage. The cause of the collapse at the two-story building, currently under construction, remains unclear. The Office of Emergency Management, alongside NYPD, stated that the investigation is ongoing to determine the specifics of the tragic event.
