Cassandra Stephens of Cornelius, North Carolina, won a $339,703 jackpot from a $10 Fast Play lottery ticket. According to WBTV, she purchased the winning “50X The Cash” ticket at Cashion’s Quik Stop on Statesville Road.
Because she bought a $10 ticket, Stephens qualified for the full amount of the progressive jackpot. She later returned to the store to thank the employee who sold her the ticket, as noted in a North Carolina Lottery report.
Stephens told WBTV that her husband initially didn’t believe her when she shared the news. She claimed her prize at lottery headquarters and received $243,740 after taxes.
The Fast Play jackpot increases with every ticket sold until someone wins. Stephens said she plans to use the winnings to pay bills and go on a cruise.
As of yesterday afternoon, the Fast Play jackpot had reset and was at $26,000 and growing, QC News reported. The North Carolina Lottery also stated that $58 million from lottery funds last year supported education in Mecklenburg County.
