The streets of Davis are once again set to become a melodic playground as the annual public piano initiative, In the Key of Davis, returns to bring music to the masses. The City of Davis has announced the placement of pianos at several community spots, including Central Park and the Davis Food Co-Op, inviting locals and visitors alike to tickle the ivories from June 5 until the fall season ushers in less piano-friendly weather.
As per press release from the City of Davis, the 11th iteration of this program aims to cultivate moments of impromptu musical joy and foster the community's creative spirit. Adding a dash of color and camaraderie to the affair, art students from Davis Senior High School have put their personal touches on this year's new piano, under the guidance of their teacher, Kyle Monhollen. "Art is typically individual, but this artistic project was not and that is what made it so special," the school's Community Art Society Club president, Victoria Dahl, conveyed in the City of Davis press release.
Music enthusiasts who partake in the Key of Davis festivities are encouraged to share their piano-playing exploits on various social media platforms. The organizers aspire to see a flood of photos and videos showcasing the diverse talent within the Davis community.
