Pittsburgh's usually quiet neighborhood of Shadyside was disrupted by a bold daytime robbery on S. Highland Avenue. According to the City of Pittsburgh Public Safety Department, two masked juvenile males entered a store just before noon, launching into a swift attack that left an employee with a minor injury.
The employees, hit with pepper spray by the juveniles while a suspected firearm was wielded, informed arriving officers from Zone 4 about the frightful encounter. Merchandise was stolen, and then the suspects fled, as reported by the employee. The incident culminated in an elbow injury from broken glass for the employee, who declined medical treatment and transport.
As law enforcement personnel cordoned off the scene, the Mobile Crime Unit was quickly drafted, tasked with canvassing the area for evidence. Pittsburgh's Violent Crime Unit Detectives are now sifting through CCTV footage, hoping to glean images that might lead to the young suspects.
