Delta Air Lines is preparing to make travel easier for Detroit Lions fans during football season. The airline has announced additional roundtrip flights from Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids to several NFL cities where the Lions are scheduled to play this season, as reported by WOODTV. Starting tomorrow, tickets for these special flights became available for purchase, with five destinations tailored to key Lions matchups.
According to MLive, Lions fans will have the opportunity to catch their team against the Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Commanders, Philadelphia Eagles, and Los Angeles Rams. This announcement is timely, as Lions season tickets for the 2025–2026 season are already sold out and single-game tickets are in high demand. Tory Richardson noted fans' enthusiasm for the added travel options and expressed optimism about the upcoming season for the Lions.
The planned trips align with major games on the schedule, including matchups on September 22 in Baltimore, October 11 in Kansas City, November 8 in Washington, D.C., November 15 in Philadelphia, and December 12 in Los Angeles. The flight schedules are designed to minimize downtime for travelers before and after the games. Additionally, Delta is offering a special flight for University of Michigan fans attending the game in Oklahoma on September 5, with a return flight on September 7.
“From kickoff to the final down, Delta is making it easier than ever for Detroit fans to get in on the action – with new, nonstop routes in Grand Rapids and extra capacity for key games,” said Amy Martin, Delta's vice president of North America network planning, in a statement obtained by MLive. As fans of the beloved Honolulu Blue, they will be able to show their support in the stadiums of their rivals, provided by Delta's newly added flights.
