Travel plans in Dent County may need adjusting as the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced an extension of the Route TT closure until July 3. Originally damaged in April 2025, the low-water crossing saw temporary reopening in mid-May after emergency repairs were conducted to make it passable, despite a shortage of materials at the time. The necessary additional materials have since trickled in, triggering a second closure on June 16 to allow crews to fully address and complete the repairs.
The situation has unfolded to occasionally frustrate locals. Route TT, a critical juncture for motorists in the area, was expected to be a shorter-term inconvenience, but additional delays have proved necessary. Now, the work is guaranteed to disrupt travel for a bit longer as MoDOT crews aim to securely finish the job. During this period, affected drivers must carefully find alternative paths and are warned not to attempt to circumvent barricades, which are placed strategically to ensure both their safety and that of others who may unknowingly face danger in hazardous conditions.
A statement released by MoDOT could not have laid out the position more clearly: "For the safety of all travelers, NEVER move or drive around barricades. Our crews place them for your safety and that of motorists who may come after you."
MoDOT encourages the public to practice vigilance and uphold road safety standards by buckling up, refraining to pick your phone up while driving, adhering to traffic signs, and making a point to slow down and move over when passing through work zones. Motorists are still expected to exercise the utmost caution, to obey all posted traffic signs without fail, and to eliminate any distractions that could impair driving through these areas.
