In the city of Denver, two police officers recently demonstrated that their service to the community extends far beyond mere enforcement of the law. According to the Denver Police Department, Officers Schoonmaker and Anderson responded to a disturbance involving an elderly victim and a suspect on April 3. The victim had reportedly provided her credit card to the suspect for buying food, but was instead assaulted after the suspect misappropriated the funds.
The officers, who are both assigned to District 3, found themselves in a situation that required them to quickly act with compassion once they had taken the suspect into custody. The victim's pantry and refrigerator were bare, prompting Schoonmaker and Anderson to personally ensure that her immediate need for groceries was met. "The officers went to a nearby store and purchased groceries for her," depicts the generous actions of the officers, as shared by the Denver Police Department.
The suspect was apprehended upon returning to the scene, affirming the police's commitment to maintaining safety and pursuing justice. However, the actions of the officers did not stop at ensuring the perpetrator faced consequences.
